Both types of flooring are designed to be installed over a flat, clean, and dry surface. Any imperfections in the subfloor—such as bumps, dips, debris, or moisture—can cause issues like uneven surfaces, gaps between planks, clicking noises, or even damage over time. Preparing the subfloor by cleaning thoroughly, leveling any uneven areas, and checking for moisture helps the planks fit together correctly and stay in place. This not only improves the durability and comfort of the floor but also enhances its appearance and performance. The most common way to level a floor with self-leveling compound involves a few key steps.
